Lately I haven’t been able to stop myself from wanting to buy things. I am going to blame it on Spring. I just want fresh, fresh, fresh and new, new, new. And it seems that for me, the obsession is focused around lips right now. Red lips. My first stop was the local drugstore because I was trying to be thrifty, but as always happens when I try to buy makeup at a drugstore, I couldn’t find the right color. I even bought two shades, but returned them after trying them on at home. I had limited babysitter time, so bit the bullet and went to Bobbi Brown and, of course, found the perfect red lipstick. What I didn’t love was the $24 it cost, but as a good friend told me, every girl needs an expensive lipstick. And I think she is right. It just feels luxurious. And when you are a stay at home mom who lives in Lululemon and no make up most days, a little luxury goes a long way. With big sunglasses and my new, fab, red lips, I instantly look and feel more put together.
But as soon as I had my perfect red, I started dreaming of the perfect pink. (It doesn’t help that I have been watching my sister and my lipstick loving friend on Instagram rocking their pink lips!) So when I read about this balm stain on this fab blog that I follow I started plotting when I could make time to hit my local Walgreens to buy it. Today I finally had the time. I actually drove to two different Walgreens because they were out of the Lovesick color at the first one I stopped at. Why did I stick to Walgreens? Because if you are a Balance Rewards Member the price is $6.99 instead of $8.99 right now. Bonus! I bought three colors in all, thinking I would just return the colors I didn’t like. SO not happening! I am keeping all three.
These chubby crayons are super soft and moisturizing. You can layer for a deeper color or just put it on lightly for something softer. They are actually a gel formula, so they don’t feel heavy going on at all and there isn’t that worry like with lipstick that they might smear on your face. In fact they feel like you are putting on lip balm, which I probably why they named them what they did. I have a feeling that all the colors are probably flattering. I bought Lovesick, Cherish and Charm. I am already planning my next trip to Walgreens so I can pick up a few more colors…Unless you all get there first :)
PRICE: $8.99 or ($6.99 if you are a Balance Rewards Member at Walgreens)
P.S. Sorry about my long hiatus from blogging! Six months after having my sweet baby girl, I am finally carving out a little space and finding some inspiration again.
