My husband surprised me with an iPad on my birthday two years ago. It was one of those gifts that I didn’t even know I wanted! Really though, he bought it for our son. August and I do a lot of air travel just the two of us and I have to say the iPad has been amazing for flying. The last flight we took, he actually sat in his seat watching a cartoon and I was able to read an iBook on my iPhone. It was a great moment.
ANYWAY, back to the cover. I am the kind of person that has to find the perfect thing. I spend countless hours researching and internet browsing to find the perfect item for whatever hole I am looking to fill. The DODOcase was the answer to my search for the perfect iPad cover. What probably helped to seal the deal is that I am a total Moleskine notebook lover. If you aren’t familiar with Moleskine, they are “legendary notebooks” favored by many artists and thinkers including that Vincent van Gogh, Pablo Picasso, and Ernest Hemingway.
DODOcase got their inspiration from the design of this notebook. They have the same hard cover and same elastic band to keep it closed. I love that they are all hand made in San Francisco and that DODOcase’s goal is to continue to keep the art of bookbinding alive. I love how substantial the cover feels and how it is a little analog/retro. I feel like I’m carrying a notebook and I like that. I don’t worry that the screen is going to get crushed when I jam it in my diaper bag to travel or drop it in my purse to run to the coffee shop. I have only had one issue with my cover. There are rubber bumpers on each interior corner to help keep your device snug and mine started feeling loose. I emailed the company and they sent me replacement bumpers and I haven’t had a problem since.
When I bought my cover, the only iPad on the market was the original (iPad 1) and DODOcase only offered the Classic style that had a black cover and then you got to chose the interior color (as seen in the above image). Now, they have lots more color options and designs. You may have seen their color blocked exclusive covers for J.Crew on J.Crew’s website or catalog. (I am secretly coveting a color blocked one for when I decide to upgrade to the iPad 3.) You probably haven’t noticed that President Obama has a DODOcase. Regardless of your politics, this is one stylish cover.
ITEM: DODOcase Classic for the iPad. DODOcase makes covers for iPads 1-3, Blackberry Playbook Tablet, Kindle Keyboard and Kindle Fire.
I was not compensated for this review and purchased the cover on my own. Opinions are always my own.
